Fayetteville Express Pipeline LLC (FEP) is committed to protecting the natural beauty and historic heritage of the areas where we operate. After all, we live here too, and we recognize the importance of being a good neighbor and community partner. We will work to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment. We view our commitment as stewardship, not just compliance.

Environmentally Sensitive Pipeline Planning

  • We will parallel existing utility right-of-ways wherever possible to minimize environmental impact to new areas.
  • We will work with local landowners, communities and environmental agencies to identify environmentally sensitive and historically significant locations.
  • We will route the pipeline to avoid these sensitive areas when feasible and will take appropriate steps to minimize any impacts from construction when crossing sensitive areas.

Environmentally Sensitive Pipeline Construction

  • We will follow and comply with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) specific requirements related to environmental protection before, during and after construction.
  • We will limit our land disturbance only to what is required to construct the pipeline. Typically this will include a permanent easement width in addition to temporary working space.
  • In agricultural lands we will segregate top soil from subsoil. Once construction is complete, we will replace the subsoil first, followed by top soil, to preserve the natural soils placement.
  • We will implement sediment and erosion control measures during construction and will restore the right-of-ways when construction is complete.
  • We will provide protection for streams and wetlands during crossing and construction activities.
  • We will work with the environmental inspectors who periodically visit the construction sites to ensure that our preventive measures are effective and in compliance with the requirements of FERC and other regulatory agencies.
  • We will train project workers in the fundamentals of environmental compliance to ensure that all participants understand the requirements and appropriate techniques.

Environmentally Sensitive Pipeline Operations

  • After construction, we will grade and seed the right-of-ways and will ensure that ground cover is growing properly.
  • We will periodically patrol the pipeline right-of-ways, noting any areas where it is eroding or subsiding and we will take prompt steps to repair it.
  • We will restore right-of-ways soil conditions and ground cover following any repair activities.
  • We will monitor encroachment activities such as logging or construction adjacent to the right-of-ways to prevent detrimental impacts.
